Rev. Paul F. Rack, Interim Minister
Reverend Paul F. Rack
On June 11, 2007, BPC welcomed Rev. Paul F. Rack as our new interim minister. Rev. Rack’s first Sunday in the pulpit is June 17.
Rev. Rack is a graduate of SUNY Albany and the Princeton Theological Seminary. His education includes a long list of continuing education credits. This is the third Interim Ministry for Rev. Rack. Those active in Presbytery work know him as the stated clerk of the Presbytery of Elizabeth. He has also written over 40 regular columns for the Courier-News.
From Rev. Rack’s Personal Information Form:
“In calling me to a few years of interim ministry, God has equipped me with broader and deeper skills for my future service. In Fanwood, I helped a congregation back to health and unity after a debilitating conflict, and guided their reorganization for mission and ministry.”
Regarding his work he says, “Effective ministers do three things well:
- Lead a coherent, integrated, creative, and inspiring worship service, including sermons that communicate God’s Word to people.
- Teach the scriptures and the faith to folks in a way that makes sense and provides a foundation for life in a busy and confused world.
- Provide pastoral leadership so that the gospel is shared and received in church and community, giving strength and hope.
The BPC Transition Committee was very impressed with Rev. Rack’s experience in conflicted churches, leadership capabilities, sermons, and his patient, yet tenacious approach towards helping churches develop a vision to move forward. In a word, he has been described as “solid”. We are very confident that God has called Rev. Paul Rack to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
